  • FMN适合在PAGE中作为光聚合试剂,依靠(在光存在下)在水溶液中形成游离自由基。 在氧气存在下无游离自由基形成,但痕量氧可使核黄色重新氧化以至于游离自由基产生。常加入催化剂TEMED 或DMAPN以加速游离自由基的形成。 游离自由基能引起丙烯酰胺和双丙烯酰胺聚合形成凝胶,用于分离大分子。 因为天然蛋白质对过硫酸铵的过硫酸根离子敏感,FMN 常用于非变性的PAGE浓缩胶中。FMN优于过硫酸铵的另一大优点是不起始聚合直至胶被光照射后。
