- 毒性:不燃。但与H发孔剂接触会引起燃烧。遇氧化剂激烈反应而燃烧。受高热分解剧毒的磷化氢气体，甚至爆炸。有腐蚀性。次磷酸往往添加在清凉饮料中，因为不被吸收。所以危险性小，但特别浓的次磷酸会伤害胃肠。不慎溅入眼睛或皮肤接触要用大量水冲洗。生产操作人员要穿戴防护服等劳保用品。生产设备密闭，车间通风良好。

- 无气味，可以任何比例与水混合。是强还原剂，在空气中易氧化。将无水的酸加热到130-140°C，则分解为PH3和H3PO4。
- 方法一:离子交换树脂法 将约70g用水湿润的阳离子交换树脂装填到玻璃管中，用5 mol/L盐酸约流通15min，经充分水洗后，把纯度高的次磷酸钠水溶液(15 g/60 ml H2O)从中流过，树脂柱先用50 ml，然后再用25 rnl蒸馏水冲洗。将流出的酸和洗液合并，在水浴上蒸发浓缩。把浓缩的酸放在高真空、有P205的干燥器中脱水，冷却结晶，过滤，重结晶，制得次磷酸成品。
