用途二:是树脂、清漆、颜料的良好溶剂和火箭燃料，还可用于合成纤维、橡胶、农药及铸造行业

用途四:糠醇用于有机合成，经水解制得乙酰丙酸（果酸）是营养药物果糖酸钙的中间体。由糠醇可制得各种性能的呋喃型树脂（如糠醇树脂，呋喃Ⅰ或呋喃Ⅱ型树脂），糠醇-脲醛树脂及酚醛树脂等；由糠醇制得的增塑剂的耐寒性优于丁，辛醇酯类，又是呋喃树脂，清漆，颜料的良好溶剂和火箭燃料。此外还用于合成纤维，橡胶，农药和铸造工业等。该品易燃，有毒。小鼠口服LD50为275mg/kg。
蒸气密度:3.4 (vs air)
微有灼烧气味。味苦。暴露在空气和光的照射下即变成棕红色，对碱稳定。遇酸易树脂化，特别对强酸极其敏感，反应激烈时往往着火。具特殊苦辣气味。极易溶于乙醇和乙醚，能与水混溶，但水溶液不稳定。中等毒，半数致死量(大鼠，经口)275mg/kg。有刺激性。
急性毒性:口服- 大鼠 LD50: 177 毫克/ 公斤; 口服- 小鼠 LD50: 160 毫克/ 公斤
